What is the difference between digital maturity and digital transformation?

Digital maturity describes the extent to which an organisation has adopted, optimised, and derived value from digital technologies — encompassing technology, workforce capability, leadership, governance, and data-driven culture. Digital transformation is a continuous organisational capability, not a discrete project with a defined endpoint. Maturity models (HIMSS EMRAM, WGLL) enable benchmarking but should be interpreted contextually rather than as competitive league tables.
