What is a Clinical Safety Officer (CSO)?

A Clinical Safety Officer is a registered healthcare professional (typically a doctor or nurse) with training in clinical risk management for health IT. Under DCB0129, manufacturers must appoint a CSO to lead clinical risk management processes. Under DCB0160, deploying organisations must also appoint a CSO with authority over deployment decisions. The CSO ensures hazards are identified, assessed, and controlled throughout the system lifecycle.
