What is the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)?

The DSPT is an online self-assessment tool managed by NHS England that allows organisations to measure performance against the National Data Guardian’s ten data security standards. All organisations accessing NHS patient data must complete it annually. A ‘Standards Met’ status is required for NHS data-sharing agreements. The ten standards cover People (staff handling data safely), Process (preventing and responding to breaches), and Technology (secure, up-to-date systems with access controls).
