What is the openEHR approach to health data?
openEHR separates the technical platform (Reference Model) from clinical knowledge (Archetypes and Templates). Archetypes are reusable models of clinical concepts (e.g. blood pressure), while Templates combine and constrain archetypes for specific use cases. This ‘two-level modelling’ enables clinician-led data governance and future-proof repositories. Norway, Slovenia, and Australia have adopted openEHR at national scale.
